Hi! This will be my first “personal” post, and I’m just going to write a short introduction about myself and my blog. Get to know me!
My name is Renee Sydney San Juan and I’m 20 years old. I studied in De La Salle – College of St. Benilde in Manila, Philippines. I took up Bachelor of Arts Major in Consular and Diplomatic Affairs and I must say that this course helped me figure out what I want in life: to be a Journalist. My interests have always been reading and writing. I am devoted to writing since I was in elementary school and I also enjoy voicing out my opinions-whether it may be through a literary form or public speaking.
Now, you might wonder why I took up a course that is not entirely related to the field of Journalism. People thought of that too. But the subjects I took under my course are perfect topics to write about: law, etiquette and protocol, international relations, gender mainstreaming, and so on. I’d like to be nothing more than a Journalist who is well-informed about those things, and I’m glad that my course helped me hone my abilities through a daily dose of readings and writing research papers.
I am also a model in Elite Manila Modelling Agency. I joined last 2017 and it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I was able to meet such influential people who were able to guide me along the way. Most of the projects I had were print and digital advertisements, and most of them are campaigns about beauty and fashion. For this reason, I joined the Style Plus Team (Writers Agency) to share my knowledge about the fashion industry. I used to dream about becoming a runway model, and now I have the chance to become one. Although I’m too short (my height is only 5’4 and they require 5’8 and above), I’m still hoping to get a runway project. I love modeling. This modeling work of mine trained me in the “adulting” stage of my life. I learned the process of bank accounts, the importance of time management, the life inside a media industry, and earning from something you worked hard for. This will be my second time as a freelance writer and I’m hoping this could lead me to something spectacular.
This website will be used as a platform for aspiring writers (like me) to share their ideas with the world. As we all know, sending in your articles to websites could take up a lot of work and pressure. It would even require you to send your resume/cv, portfolio, and the like before your article gets accepted. This website is all about being inclusive. Everyone has the chance to impart their stories. Everyone has the chance to feel like they belong in the writing industry. Everyone has the chance to feel like they are one step closer to reaching their goals.
That is exactly what I feel in setting up my website: I am close to achieving my ultimate dream.
And this is only the first step.
Stay with me throughout my journey… and start yours too!
(I will also use this website for personal purposes; I will post articles and photos from some of the significant moments of my life.)
